When I was a kid, the troubles my mother dragged into her life forced us to move from place to place. Over and over again. Too many times. In fact, according to her, we moved more than 32 times, including living in tents, in a motel, and in old shitty houses nobody should live in. Most of the places I lived in were wrong. Location matters. Location is one thing. The people you surround yourself with are another. Most people just go about their lives in the usual places, surrounded by the usual people. When I moved away from my dull merry-go-round hometown and left for Thailand, acceleration happened. A fresh location, with fresh people who were thinking differently. Today I wanted to share a similar story. One of my previous Taekwon-Do students made a similar choice a few years ago. He had enough, left the city, and moved close to the North Pole. He still hasn’t returned. So I brought my camera gear and went to visit him among polar bears and minus 17 degrees Celsius. We’re moving through drastic reality shifts at this time. It may be something you want to consider for yourself: Do you surround yourself with places and people that match your energy? John. |
